Covid -19 Secure Policy

If you or anyone in your household (who lives with you) has had symptoms, either a continuous cough, a temperature or loss of taste or smell, in the past 14 days, please advise us so that your reservation can be modified to another date or cancelled. During this time, we are happy to refund your deposit right up until the day of arrival if you fall ill and need to cancel your stay.

Please sanitize your hands with the sanitizer provided each time you enter the front door and on departure, and especially before any meal at Swanage Haven. We also ask guests to wash their hands thoroughly and frequently throughout their stay.

To ensure social distancing within the Swanage Haven Guest House, we have to reduced our occupancy by 30%, (15 to 10 guests) on most days and occasionally a maximum of 12 guests, which we feel is the right thing to do.

We have always pride in our super cleanliness but will now be sanitizing the rooms and communal areas along side the cleaning.

All glassware, crockery and cutlery are washed using a dishwasher at a high temperature.  

We have a 5 rating (the highest achievable) for food hygiene from the Environmental Health and a 5-star status with the AA.

You will find details below of the actions we are taking to keep us all safe following completion of a risk assessment, this policy is based on current draft Government guidance for hospitality businesses. This is a live document and will be changed in line with the updated Government guidelines.

We have changed some of the thins we do to ensure the safety of everyone in the building. Please read through the list as some these will affect your stay. We have tried to keep as much the same with the little touches where possible.

 

 

Before you arrive

As per draft Government advice, please do not travel to use if you or anyone in your party is showing any of the signs of Covonavirus such as a temperature, a new persistent cough, loss of taste or smell. We will happily re-arrange your stay for a future date or give a refund.

Your agreement that you will follow our temporary new procedures and extra measures whilst on our premises is kindly requested. We will email this document prior to your stay and unless we hear from you it is presumed that you are happy to continue with your booking under these new measures. Should you prefer to stay at a later when things are more back to normal, please contact us.

 

Arrival

Most of our guests arrive by car. Under normal circumstance, we praise the use of public transport as we have a main trains station into Bournemouth and a great bus service to the end of our road. However, during this current period, we would recommend avoiding the use of public transport wherever possible, this both minimizes the chance of infection en-route or during your stay. We have plenty of parking available.

We would remind you to limit contact with other people and keep 2m social distancing at restaurants and attractions, using hand sanitizer, wipes and masks where appropriate.

Check in

We will ask you for an approximate check in time and where necessary, may ask you to move your check in time slightly to avoid another guest arrival.

When you arrive at the property please call 01929 423088 to let us know that you have arrived, we will then prop the front door open for you to enter.

Please come into the building and straight into the bar on the left, where you can collect your door key.  

If you do arrive at the same time as another guest, please wait in the car until they have moved to allow social distancing. Likewise, if you arrive at the front door and someone is already in the reception area, please wait until they have moved on.

Please note that we may request to take a forehead temperature with a medical grade infrared thermometer on arrival. Should we record a temperature of 38oC or above, we will ask you to return home and self-isolate as per the Government guidance. We will rearrange your stay for a future date at no extra cost.

Hand sanitizer is available next to the front door before you enter, which we encourage you do use whenever you enter the building.

We would normally ask you to sign a registration form however at this time we have chosen not use paper documents. When checking-in guests we will stay behind the bar area maintaining social distancing. Your key will be place on the bar which will have been sanitized since the last guest.

If possible, please only bring luggage that you can carry to your room without our assistance, so that there is no need for us to come to your room. 

There is a comprehensive Room Information pack to familiarize you for your stay, for your protection this has been printed just for you and will be recycled on your departure.

We offer a complimentary drink on arrival. This can be served to your bedroom or left in the bar area or in the back garden. Where possible we will encourage guests to enjoy their drinks in different areas, but we have chairs over two over two meters apart in both the bar area and outside. After a guest has used any seating area both the chairs and tables will be sanitized.

Hall and stairways

Please try and social distance if you see anyone in the communal areas of the guest house, we ask that you give priority to those coming up the stairs, this could mean going back into your bedroom momentarily until the area is clear or standing in the bar area.

Your bedroom

The TV remote control will be placed inside a new sealed plastic bag so that we can dispose of the bag and replace for the next guest, the TV controls can be used through the plastic bag.

It has been recommended that rooms should be aired as much as possible so we would encourage opening windows whenever possible.

The decorative cushions have been removed from the bedrooms to help make cleaning and sanitizing easier. All linen and towels in your room are currently being laundered on site so that we can ensure that everything is being washed at a high temperature with the recommended cleaning chemicals.

Everything on your tea tray is individually wrapped, we will reduce the items left on the tray to minimize the number of items you may of touched, please just let us know which items you need replacing each day.

There will be fresh semi-skimmed milk left in your fridge, please let us know if you would prefer any other type of milk before your arrival.

If you would like clean crockery, please bring your used crockery down to breakfast with you and we will gladly give you some clean crockery.

We ask that you wash your hands both on entering and leaving your bedroom and before entering the dining room.

Cleaning

We regret that we cannot clean your room daily if you are staying with us for four nights or less, please let us know at breakfast of anything you require    (eg toilet rolls, fresh milk, biscuits and tea and coffee).

We ask that you empty your own bin, placing sealed bags of rubbish outside your door for collection. You will find clean bin bags underneath the old one. We will enter your room briefly during the day whilst wearing a mask only to drop of a bag of your requested items and to place fresh milk in the fridge.

If you require clean towels, please place them in the plastic bags for collection.

Breakfast

We have had to change the way we would normally serve breakfast we really hope you understand and bear with us.

We are asking if you would kindly fill out a pre-order breakfast form and leave this on the bar before 7pm the evening before, this is to reduce us standing next to you in the morning taking breakfast orders.

Breakfast will be served in two sittings, 8am and 9am, with the maximum of 3 tables in use as anyone time. Please let us know you preferred time. You will be allocated a table for your sole use throughout you stay.

We have reduced our dining room tables for 8 to 6 to maintain social distancing of 2m.

Our breakfast buffet which is normally served from the bar will unfortunately not be on display so the items will be listed on the pre-order form so that we can serve you anything you require form the kitchen.

We have held a 5-star food hygiene rating (the highest possible) since we opened and will always adhere to the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety.

Evening meals

We have temporarily lifted our restriction of takeaway food and will allow takeaways in bedrooms in you have difficulty finding a table in a local restaurant. The dining room and garden will be also available to use in the evenings. Please ask if you need any plates or cutlery.

Honesty Bar

Sorry but we are not going to allow guests to go behind the bar area to serve themselves just while we need to reduce touch however if you would like anything from the bar we will be happy to serve you, there is a bell next to the kitchen door, please ring and we will come and serve you.

Check out

Before you check out, please open all your bedroom windows for ventilation and leave out any hair dryers or anything else you have used during your stay out to allow us to sanitize them.

General

Should you feel unwell during your stay with any of the Coronavirus symptoms they you must notify us immediately. Consistent with Government guidance, you will be asked to check out immediately in order to self-isolate at your home address. Should your symptoms become worse you should seek medical advice, Where travel is not possible, you will be liable for all costs incurred by us and extra nights and/or services provided.

Where conversing with guest is only possible closer that 1m, we will wear a face covering and would kindly request you to do too (you will need to provide your own).

We will supply hand sanitizer at the front door and request that you use it before entering the guest house. The door fob will unlock the front door but you will need to use the large door handle to open the door.

Please remain at least 1m from other guests when in the common areas including the smoking area next to the front door.

Should we find coronavirus on site, or one of us as owners are tested positive or need to self-isolate, we may need to cancel your booking at short notice. Where this happens, a full refund or alternate dates will be offered.
